Can T Press Brake to Start Car
This happened to my mom today and has happened once before. So you can activate it manually.
The brake pedal needs to be pushed to start the vehicle so if the brake pedal assembly is faulty it will not send a signal to the computer telling it that the brake is on and its safe to start.

. What happens is you get in the car push on the brake but it wont go down try to push the start button and of course it wont start because the brake is not depressed. The brake lights wont work and car will not shift out of park when engine is running and brake is depressed. When you put your foot on the brake and start the car the pedal should sink slightly.
